Thinking Ahead About 2015

Writing a blog post for the new year always feels like an exercise in carthasis, not an effort to present any meaningful information. A lot of people I know set goals and resolutions. I do the same. And I’m fiercely private about the resoluions I set, but there is one which is relevant to this site and thus to those who read it, for which I am grateful. The goal is this: return to reading and then writing about one programming or game or technology-related book each week. I did that for a while last year but then fell out of the routine, so I’m going to make a concerted effort towards doing that again.

Well, that and release a game.

This feels like it’s going to be a good year.

  1. Happy New Year! I agree that it’s going to be a good one. Concerning your resolutions, I was wondering: Do you find that keeping your resolutions private makes you more likely to accomplish them? I have a terrible track record either way; I was just curious about whether you’ve discovered that you have more success one way or the other.

Yeah, because then there’s neither encouragement from anyone to succeed or pressure from anyone to not fail, which for me eliminates a lot of potential stress.
